Operating for almost 30 years, Tarasis Enterprises’ story has always been one of growth and constant evolution, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of industries including healthcare, support, housing solutions, and renewables.
Tarasis Enterprises is a story of growth grounded in a profound mission to positively impact people’s lives. The company, founded by award-winning CEO Mairead Mackle, employs around 500 people across Ireland with offices in Dublin, Sligo, Roscommon, Belfast, Newry and Armagh and is currently in the early stages of a new five-year growth strategy.
The organisation has four operating divisions, including Tarasis Healthcare, formerly known as Homecare Independent Living, which provides in-home care services across the island, and Tarasis Housing, which provides housing for people who are homeless or in a housing crisis. Tarasis Support Services helps prevent repeat homelessness by working with people experiencing addiction and mental health issues, while Tarasis Renewables uses anaerobic digestion to deliver affordable, renewable energy.
It’s a broad suite of companies, all aligned with the common aim of positively impacting people’s lives. Non-operational divisions include Tarasis Investments and the Tarasis Foundation.
“Our journey at Tarasis has always been about growth, and we’re already making significant strides towards a new five-year plan,” explains CEO Mairead Mackle. “This plan will see us expand our operations in housing, support services, renewables, and healthcare, solidifying our position as a leader in these industries.
“Our mission extends beyond business growth. We’re driven by a commitment to enhance the lives of individuals, families, and the environment across Ireland. This is the core of our work at Tarasis Enterprises.
“Our investment arm is also focused on new areas of innovation, specifically in sustainable beef production, setting up Kingsbury Wagyu where we have adopted a circular economy approach with a net zero delivery system.”
That new approach to net zero reflects the group’s wider sustainability strategy as it responds to the demands of the modern world.
Mairead adds: “We live in an ever-changing world with constantly evolving challenges, and so it is incumbent on us as business leaders to continually adapt to maintain growth, continue to provide the services that so many rely on us for and create new employment.”
*“Among the greatest challenges currently is sustainability and the move towards net zero, which is difficult for every sector, including our own. However, for those who embrace the challenge, the opportunities are huge. We are already well ahead on this journey and are excited to invest in and expand our renewables business as a key priority.”
Away from its core business functions, the group also comprises the Tarasis Foundation. This not-for-profit wing includes initiatives such as iCare, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people and their families through simple acts of kindness and Evolve, which is dedicated to equality and empowering women to reach their full potential.
For Mairead, the Foundation is a critical element of Tarasis Enterprises’ success, which she summarises as a mixture of people, the belief in a common goal, and a commitment to best-in-class customer service. “Our unwavering commitment to innovation, social responsibility, and a people-centric approach makes us stand out. Tarasis not only delivers high-quality services, but we prioritise making a positive difference in the world,” she said. “As a team, we are united in the belief that business can be a force for good, and we are goal-focused. It’s a strong bond that keeps us together.”
“At the centre of everything is our customers, to whom we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional and seamless experience, with a strong emphasis on kindness, which is the foundation of our organisation.”
Tarasis has been providing innovative services and solutions for the health and social care, housing and renewables sectors across Ireland for almost 30 years.
